Some helpful details about commissions.

Terms: The artist will make work in keeping with the artist’s vision as exhibited by past work. Every effort will be taken to accommodate the Collector(s) wishes keeping in mind the consistency of artist’s vision for the work and any constraints of the medium of the work. Please anticipate four meetings (Introductory, Preliminary and Midway and Completion Meetings) between the artist and ALL Collectors who will approve the project prior to this project’s completion. The Introductory Meeting (in person) will be held to discuss the commission details, review the artist’s portfolio, photograph the setting for the piece(s) and review the contract. Once the contract is signed by all parties the artist will be paid 50% of the total price for the work to begin. The Preliminary Meeting (in person or electronically) will be held once the artist has sketches and early work on the piece(s), including confirmation of color and concept. The Midway Meeting (in person preferably) will be held at approximately the midway point during the project. At this point minor editing and fine tuning could take place on the project. Upon completion, the artist will notify client and schedule the Completion Meeting, at which point the balance is due and the artwork is delivered to the collector(s).

Payment schedule: A non-refundable deposit of 50% is required before artwork commences. The payment is due in full upon delivery of artwork.

Right of Refusal: In the event that the Collector does not wish to purchase the commissioned artwork, the Collector may refuse. In that case, the Artist will retain the refused artwork and the non-refundable deposit. This is free of any claims or interests of the Collector and the Collector will not owe any additional fees to the Artist. Should the Collector cancel the work prior to the artist beginning any physical work on the piece the artist will retain a fee of $50.00/hour for time spent on the project to that point (including any meetings, communication, etc) from the 50% deposit.  

Copyright: Artist retains the copyright to all works commissioned by Collector that was created by Artist, including all reproduction rights and the right to claim statutory copyright. No artwork may be reproduced or altered without the written consent of the Artist.
